What "Statera" means

Statera is Latin for balance — the equilibrium we help families restore when the path forward feels uncertain.

"You don't have to carry this alone."

About Statera

Decades of expertise, now working directly for your family.

As the former Director of the Illinois Department on Aging, I spent years at the forefront of national aging policy — collaborating with leaders from states across the country, delivering testimony before U.S. Senate committees, and speaking at national conferences to champion the services older adults need and deserve. That work gave me a rare, ground-level view of both the promise and the persistent gaps in our nation's aging support system.

Today, I bring all of that directly to families. As a Certified Dementia Practitioner and independent consultant, I'm not affiliated with any facility, insurer, or provider network — which means my guidance has one focus: yours. Whether you're facing a new dementia diagnosis, sorting through Medicare options, carrying the weight of a caregiving role, or simply planning ahead, you'll have a trusted advocate who has seen these challenges from every vantage point — the policy table, the legislative chamber, and the living room.

With care, Statera Consulting

For Businesses & Organizations
The Silver Economy

Expertise your organization can build on.

The 65+ population is the fastest-growing consumer segment in the country. Statera Consulting brings decades of aging policy and care expertise to businesses developing products, services, and strategies for older adults.

Market Research & Focus Groups

Understand what older adults actually need — and what they reject. We design and facilitate research that cuts through assumptions, centering accessibility, dignity, and anti-ageism in your process.

R&D Advisory

Ground your product development in clinical reality. We advise on age-related physiological changes, sensory and cognitive considerations, and what it genuinely means to design for "aging in place."

Go-to-Market Strategy

Reach older consumers and the caregivers who influence their decisions. We help shape simplified workflows, loyalty programs, and messaging that resonates with a demographic that expects to be treated with respect.

Regulatory Compliance

Navigate the rules that govern this space with confidence. We advise on value-based care frameworks and Medicare/Medicaid contracting requirements so your team can move forward without costly missteps.

How it works

Simple, steady, and always on your side.

Getting support shouldn't be one more thing to figure out. Here's what working together looks like.

We Listen

A relaxed, no-pressure conversation to understand your situation, your worries, and your goals.

03

Clear options and honest recommendations — explained in plain language, at your pace.

04

Walk Beside You

Ongoing support you can lean on as needs change, so no one faces the journey alone.

Kind words

The difference a steady hand makes.

She took something that felt overwhelming and made it feel manageable. We finally understood our options.

— Family caregiver

Patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. I never felt rushed or talked down to.

— Daughter of a client

Having someone in our corner who knew the system changed everything. I only wish we'd called sooner.

— Adult son
Questions & answers

You probably have questions. That's a good place to start.

What does an aging consultant actually do?
I help older adults and families understand their options and make confident decisions — about care, dementia, Medicare, caregiving, and advocacy. Think of me as a knowledgeable guide who helps you see the whole picture and choose the path that's right for you.
Are you connected to a facility or insurance company?
No. Statera Consulting is private and independent. I don't sell insurance or represent any facility, so my guidance is shaped only by what's best for you and your family.
When is the right time to reach out?
Sooner is almost always easier than later — but there's no wrong time. Whether you're planning ahead, facing a new diagnosis, or already in the middle of a hard situation, a conversation can bring clarity and relief.
Can you help if my loved one lives in another city?
Yes. Many families I work with are supporting a parent or relative from a distance. We can connect by phone or video, and I'll help you coordinate and advocate no matter where everyone is.
What does it cost?
Every situation is a little different, so I'm happy to talk through your needs and what support would look like before anyone commits to anything. Just reach out to start the conversation.
